Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) is a composite material which is a combination of carbon fibre and a polymer matrix (elastomers, thermoset and thermoplastic) or ceramic, and it is the most widely used strengthening material. Other commonly used fibrous composites are glass, basalt aramid and steel fibre composites, whereas common polymer matrices are esters and epoxies . The choice of fibrous composite is based on cost-effectiveness without compromising mechanical properties, fatigue and corrosive resistance. In contrast, glass fibre-reinforced polymer is relatively cheap but lacks the interface bonding strength of the fibre/resin . To resolve this, some researchers have suggested a polymer that combines carbon and glass fibres prepared by pultrusion technology. The carbon/glass Hybrid Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (HFRP) can significantly reduce the amount of carbon fibre and reduce the material cost without compromising the effectiveness of the mechanical properties of the polymer.
