Commercial carbon fibers possess high tensile strength (ranging from 3 to 7 GPa) and high Young’s modulus (ranging from 200 to 500 GPa). Furthermore, it was reported that the carbon fibers’ axial compressive strength is only 10%–60% of their tensile strength and their transverse compressive strength is 12%–20% of axial compressive strength.
