Types of Carbon Fiber Weaves
Not all fiber carbons are the same. There are three common types of carbon fiber weaves. The three types include:
Satin weaves — Developed thousands of years ago, the satin weave was created for making smooth and uniform silk fabrics. It has tremendous draping qualities, which means it can wrap easily around complicated shapes. However, it is less stable than twill or plain weaves.
Twill weaves — A 2x2 twill weave is the most common type of carbon fiber weave. Having each tow pass over two tows then under two tows, makes the material more pliable. If the product is pliable then it can be applied more easily. Many decorative applications use twill weaves.
Plain weaves — A 1x1 plain weave is the second most used carbon weave. A plain weave occurs when one tow is going over another tow and under the next in a repeating pattern. It will have a symmetrical appearance resembling a checkerboard. This type of weave is much tighter, which makes it more difficult for the material to warp or change shapes giving it a high level of stability.
It is weaved by 12K carbon fiber.12K carbon fiber tow is much thicker than 3k and 6k.So the fabric looks very stereoscopic.
